First Flight. [video from new bark town.]

[He's still rubbing at his skull when he starts recording. All those memories rushing back at once wasn't exactly a fun experience, but given the circumstances he's not looking that worse for wear. In fact, there's a hint of a grin starting to appear before he starts talking.]

And here I was, thinking it was all a really elaborate dream. Probably should have known better -- I'm leagues ahead of everyone else on Berk, but no Viking is this creative.

I don't know who's still here, or even how long it's been for you all... Looks like all my stuff is gone, though. Can't have anything be too easy, can I? But it's good to be back.

[A floppy-eared Emolga climbs up into the frame, clinging to the Viking's armor until he can settle down onto Hiccup's shoulder. He wasn't Dinkfin or Adder, but Hiccup's already decided he's fond of the guy. No guessing as to why Johto felt it was an appropriate partner, anyway...]

And this time? Not waiting here for a week. If anyone needs me, I'll be heading to Cherrygrove.

[He shakes his head at her, obviously amused.]

Good to see you, too. Nice to know at least a few people are still around.

_{[She makes a scrunched face and gestures aimlessly for a moment, trying to think of a way to phrase it that isn't "SHUT UP YOU WERE LITTLE".]}

Anyway, I'm here for good. If I'm ever gonna leave, it'll be in a bodybag.

_{[She says it like she has some amount of control over the situation. She doesn't, but it makes her feel better. She's not gonna bring up her father's disappearance. There's no sense in marring an otherwise-happy occasion.]}

Truth be told, I don't think you've missed a whole hell of a lot. It's the same old Johto. Happy to be back?

Well, I could definitely use the vacation.

[His tone is light, trying to dodge thinking about it too much. Knowing that time stood still definitely helped, but leaving behind everything from home would get to him if he didn't keep focused on all the things he loved here.]

Other than that new blob dragon? Yeah, seems like the same place I left. Feels weird that it's not more...different, you know?

Yeah... I guess these people were chugging along like normal before we ever came here and are still doing just that even with us weirdos stinkin' up the joint.

[Hiccup makes a bit of a face, giving away his intention to lie before even saying anything. Most of the stories that came to mind were...not things he really wanted to discuss right now, and sifting through the past five years for something to share that wasn't those would take some time.

Luckily, he gets to look incredulous instead. Thank you, distraction.]

_{[She catches that face. It's something she's gotten good at doing lately. But she doesn't say a word about it. If the face had to be made in the first place, that's enough for her to know not to ask further. At least not right now. Having to scramble for ways to avoid getting sensitive information pried out of you is no way to spend your first day back.]

[So instead she sort of laughs at Hiccup's obvious disdain.]}

[Welp, as socially awkward as he is, he knows not to ask about that. Especially when Heather's been around for as long as she has.]

You know, back when you both were here, I gave her advice on how to get your attention off of Claire once.

Well, she definitely did that. And I hate to burst your bubble, but I don't know if that really grabbed my attention any more than usual. Astrid's always been good at kicking butts.
