Turns out that when you spend all your time flying around the world having your pokemon destroy inn furniture, you kind of run out of money.

[And he's way too stubborn to accept Carmen paying for everything all the time, even with her unexplained reserves of cash. So here he goes...!]

To fix that, I'm taking commissions for leather goods! I've been doing this for...just about forever, so I can make just about anything put of whatever this world's version of leather is, really -- saddles, bags, saddles with bags, coats, coats with bags, bags with hidden bags, you get the idea. I can also work with metal, but I'd rather not make any weapons. I'm thinking more along the lines of prosthetic limbs (not that most of you have need for that) or jewelry.

Depending on what it is, we can talk out a price that works. Call in today and receive a free egg or bunny rock thing with your order!

Or just call in if you want the pokemon and something crafted, I guess. I'll have a list of egg moves for the ones I have on hand, but if that's all you want then I'll need to ask you to pay for them. The daily swarm pokemon just need a good home. Haven't seen what these new guys can do in battle yet, but if you're in a pinch, they make an excellent dragon-repelling disco ball*!

*May or may not actually repel dragons. The scientists are still hard at work on that one.

Still, I'm more creative than most, and it isn't like I've never done something like it before.

I have faith in your talent. The dragon is mostly a bribe in and of itself; if you'd like to try your hand at a different design, I certainly don't mind.

Have you been enjoying yourself, being back in Blackthorn again?

I have. I wish I was able to look around a bit more, but I've had to keep busy. It's such a weird month that it makes it difficult to go and see all the old sights.

I do like dragons. But more importantly, I like the things you make. And I trust your taste.

It's a weird month already, and we're only five days into it. I wonder what else might lie in store?

I can only hope for more dragons, really. Or maybe it's a sign that we're going to get a lot of people from home all of a sudden.

Well, it's not in Blackthorn specifically, but sooner or later we ought to head back to Saffron and check in on the house.

Maybe that'll be Christmas; they do say Santa prefers to make his entrances by chimney.

[And speaking of unexplained money reserves how do they still have a house. Best not to look a gift horse in the mouth.]

We should. Hopefully it hasn't been overrun with wild pokemon in our absence. I've fixed houses before, but it's something I'd rather avoid if possible.

Are you going to invite your friend along with us there, too?

That depends on whether or not you want him along, really.

Well if that's the case, you've got to tell me more about him.

Let's see, then.

He's an artist, for one thing. That's how we first crossed paths in person — he was painting landscapes and I asked if I could watch. He's well-read, highly educated, has a penchant for history and culture; fun to talk to, really, if you can get him on the right subject.

His downside follows naturally from those: he can be a little pretentious, and he isn't always the most tolerant of souls, but if you can stand a little egotism, he's interesting to talk to.

And yet, you and Albert couldn't tolerate each other.

Is he the type you'd want around for the holiday, or is he just interesting to talk to, for you?

Albert's problem was that any conversation that included me was always on "the wrong subject".

And I'm not sure yet, really. Maybe that's part of what traveling with him is designed to find out.

[Well, that couldn't have been entirely his problem, even if Hiccup was well aware that Albert was difficult. Still, it was best to not poke the sleeping bear, with those two.]

Let me know when you decide, huh? But so far it's looking like inviting him for Christmas is fine by me, if that's what you want.
